How to Use This Calculator

How to Use

  1. Enter the total length of your fence line.
  2. Enter the panel width – standard UK panels are 1.83 m (6 ft) wide.
  3. Enter the post width (concrete or timber posts are usually 100 mm / 4 in).
  4. Read off the number of panels, posts and gravel boards required.

Tips

  • You always need one more post than the number of panels.
  • Gravel boards protect panels from ground moisture – allow one per panel.
  • Order a spare panel for awkward runs or future repairs.

Common Questions

How many fence panels do I need?

You need 6 posts for 5 panels – one between each panel plus one at each end.
