Calculate baseboard or skirting board length needed for any room, accounting for doorways and corners.
Step 1: Enter the room dimensions (length and width) or total perimeter.
Step 2: Enter the number of doorways and their width. Standard doors are 3 ft (0.9 m) wide.
Step 3: Enter corner counts. A standard rectangular room has 4 inside corners. Add outside corners for bay windows, bump-outs, etc.
Step 4: Adjust waste percentage as needed. Results show piece counts for different standard lengths.

Inside corners are best done with a coped joint: cut one piece square to butt into the corner, then cope-cut the adjoining piece to match the profile. This is more forgiving than mitring on walls that aren't perfectly square.
Caulk inside corners and butt joints with paintable caulk for a seamless look. Outside mitre joints should be glued and pinned. Don't caulk the bottom edge if you have hard flooring.
Standard baseboard heights are 3.25" (82 mm) for modern homes, 5.25" (133 mm) for traditional style, and 7.25" (184 mm) for formal rooms with high ceilings. Taller baseboards suit rooms with 9ft+ ceilings.
Measure the perimeter of the room, then subtract the width of any door openings. The calculator does this and adds a waste allowance for mitre cuts.
Allow about 10% for mitred corners and off-cuts — more if the room has many corners or a patterned profile.
